Marcus Jackson, The WALA / WFNA Resident Movie Guru here.  Well the month of May 2012 is almost history and what can say … it was an AVENGE-ful month for Marvel’s The Avengers.  It stay atop of the U.S. Movie Box Office for three straight weeks only to be knocked off the mountaintop by Will Smith, Tommy Lee Jones, and Josh Brolin in Men In Black 3 this past Memorial Day Weekend.  And this was just the 1st Month of the Summer Movie Blockbuster Season.

We are now approaching June and for us in the News Game that means one thing …. HURRICANE Season Starts!  We’ll keep you updated on all you need to know about that here on our website, www.fox10tv.com.  As for going to the movies when the temperature rises a cool air-conditioned movie theater is a good place to be and get a little entertainment – in either 2D or 3D.  There has been one setback for the month of June.  With the disappointing box office results from Battleship not beating out The Avengers Paramount Studios have decided to delay the release of G.I. Joe: Retaliation from June 29th to March of 2013.  With G.I. Joe being based on the popular toy from Hasbro, the same as Battleship being based from the board game; the movie studio didn’t want to take the chance of having two failing franchises based on the products from Hasbro in the same critical movie season of summer.

Now here are some safe bets that will get you running or logging onto Fandango or Tickets or StubHub or any online outlet to buy your tickets to see these next Blockbusters in June.

June 1st  - Start the ball rolling in the retelling of a fairy tale from a different perspective – Snow White and The Huntsman

June 8th - Showdown #1 – Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted vs. Prometheus – What do your kids want to see?

June 15th - Showdown #2 – Rock of Ages vs. That’s My Boy -  Can Adam Sandler comic timing beat out Tom Cruise singing?

June 22nd – Take Your Pick – Disney Pixar’s Brave  or  Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter  or  Seeking A Friend For The End Of The World

June 29th – With G.I. Joe out until March you have to settle for Tatum Channing in the male dancing stripper film Magic Mike – Guys just get ready to take your wives and girlfriends to see this film …. just to keep an eye on them.
