I was impressed by the Fighting Irish today. But it wasn’t on the field, it was in the parking lot.
Bag pipes were playing, green mohawks spiked to they sky, beer pong tables…oh they were ready to party. As the fans trickled into the stadium and took their seats, I think they were also taken by surprise. Lacy Cooper made a TD within the first 7-8 minutes of the game. Then another Alabama goal, then another.
Will this game live up to the hype? So far, it’s not. And I think the fans came here for more! Well, at least Notre Dame fans did.
To be continued.

It is now 35-0 in the BCS National Championship game at Sunlife stadium and the Bama fans are going crazy with excitement.
I have to admit the stadium is overwhelmingly pulling for Notre Dame while a small corner has been taken over by Alabama fans.
By the looks of things however, it makes it that much sweeter for Bama fans who are working to compete with double the amount of fighting Irish supporters.
Today has been a busy but fun-filled day in the magic city. We’ve seen tailgaters dressed in team-swag from head to toe; setting up at the stadium since 10am.
Stadium officials say 80,120 fans came out to tonight’s game; breaking several Sunlife stadium records.
That’s the best way to talk about this night; in terms of records.
By halftime Notre Dame had taken the record for biggest deficit by a number-one ranked team in the 1st quarter with 14-0 on the board.
The 28 point halftime deficit was tied for the second largest halftime deficit in BCS National Championship game history.
Many fans are already making plans to hit up South Beach to celebrate title number 15. Only time will tell.

The BCS National Championship game has finally arrived!
First thing this morning Bama fans began setting up their tailgates. Alabama flags are flying in the wind, “Sweet Home Alabama” is playing on the stereo system and the crockpots are out on the table.
Decked out in Bama gear, one man is wearing houndstooth boxers!
Can’t wait to see what today brings. Hopefully another National Championship! Roll Tide

On my way back home from downtown Mobile this afternoon, I decided to take a closer look at some of the damage caused by the Christmas EF-2 tornado. I put my iPhone5 into a suction-mount on the windshield, and took a very short drive on South Carlen to Dauphin to North Carlen to Old Shell and back to Dauphin. It’s not meant to be a comprehensive look at all the damage caused, just a taste of it.
I’m still amazed by the power of nature. Some homes were fine while others look like they were destroyed by dynamite. Click on the link to watch the video…

Miami Beach is packed today with Notre Dame and Alabama fans screaming “Roll Tide” and “Go Irish”.
Everywhere you look you’ll find someone decked out in collegiate gear.
For the first time it’s starting to feel like the national championship, its finally here!
With only a day left until the game, fans are dancing, singing and getting pumped up for the historic match up.

Alabama linebacker C.J. Mosley’s family has arrived in the “Magic City” and they’re excited about seeing the palm trees and walking on the beach before tomorrows game.
C.J’s mother, father and brother are joined by his extended family including aunts, uncles and grandmothers.
We sat down to chat about tomorrow’s game and enjoyed some good laughs.
C.J.’s father said last night, they were practicing interviewing one another for today’s fox10 interview. We were all chuckling and having a good time.
C.J comes from a fun loving family who is proud of his success thus far and ready to cheer him and team in in the championship game.
It’s great to see such a strong family supporting one of Alabama’s finest players.

One day away and the traffic says it all. Thousands have made their way to the sandy beaches of Miami for the greatest game of the year. But some have one problem. They don’t have tickets to the game!
I’ve spoken to a number of people who traveled across the country hoping to find tickets at a decent price. Some are more vocal about the need than others. One guy just walked down the street just mumbling ” need tickets, need tickets.” A couple from Citronelle posted a sign on their car window. How creative!
I think most fans though just want to experience all the fanfare and take home a W.

You really are a product of your environment.
During media day at Sun Life Stadium, players like AJ McCarron and TJ Yeldon took a moment to say thank you the people who helped shape their lives.
McCarron says the Mobile Community helped raise him and become the man he is today. TJ Yeldon thanked Daphne High School for its support. It’s good to know competitive players can give credit where it is due.
I know people from their neighborhoods appreciate the gratefulness and take pride in the players accomplishments.
So when we all rise to the occasion, let us not forget who helped get his there. And if we get the national spotlight, tell the world!

Bama and Notre Dame fans are all over South Beach! Miami Beach has transformed with vendors set up on every corner. They’re selling food, game day apparel and playing music.
There’s a zip line, a rock wall and competitive games. Ocean Drive is shut down so people can walk, bicycle, roller blade or whatever transportation you choose besides a car.
The atmosphere is great and the weather is perfect.
It’s the calm before the storm really. Everyone is hanging out, walking on the beach, touring the city and just enjoying themselves.
I met a couple from Citronelle, Al and some other fans from Tuscaloosa who flew down last night.
Anticipating the pep rally that starts at 4.
