Feeding the Beast on SOBE.

This week is moving by quickly; too quickly.
We are now seeing Alabama fans pouring into the city. Many say they chose to make the long drive down to Miami just for all the fan fare.

Its been nice getting out to meet some die-hard fans, however I enjoyed hanging around the football team tonight at the ‘Fogo De Chao’ Brazilian Steakhouse on South Beach. The Crimson Tide had their first official team dinner there Friday night.

I have spent almost my entire life in Miami and have never experienced true Brazilian cuisine; specifically their steaks. We got a chance to try the food from ourselves. Imagine my excitment when I discovered this was an all you can eat establishment with 15 mouth-watering cuts of meat and authentic side dishes.

The team was treated to thatall you can eat feast; fit for a king. Many of them really piled on the steak.

The team appeared calm, cool, and collected. Many of them were cracking jokes and seemed to be enjoying themselves ahead of thee game of the year.

AJ McCarron seemed in good spirits around his teammates. He was yelling across the restaurant; even stopped to take a photo-op.

To my surprise though, most of the coaches were not present at the dinner. I wondered where they’d be hiding out at this time.

I got a chance to speak with Nick Saban’s sister at the Alabama Beach party yesterday. She told me he has always been very focused and dedicated; business first. She said he wasn’t into all that “hoopla.”

I have to admit; we rarely see the man crack a smile but you can’t deny he is good at what he does.

On a another note, its funny to hear locals talk about BCS. The conversation almost always turns to Nick Saban and his time spent coaching the Miami Dolphins. Its been my experience that he is not very well-liked here in “The Magic City.” Needless to say, a lot of the locals seem to be pulling for Notre Dame on this one.
