Sunny & Breezy

A surface cool front is now tracking through the area with some gusty northerly winds. The air mass is drying out considerably and the sky is clear. It is a beautiful fall afternoon! Daytime highs are only in the lower 70’s in many locations. There is a lot of deep layer dry air aloft, and this is very evident on water vapor imagery.  Humidity is very low. There is a very high fire danger with the dry and breezy conditions.

Chilly Nights this Week

A stronger front, the second in a series of three cold fronts, pushes offshore tonight. Much colder air moves in, especially with our overnight lows. Lows will be in the 40’s tonight. A reinforcing front will push through Friday with even more cool air for the weekend.

Lows will range from near 40 along I-10 Friday night, to the mid 30’s and patchy frost for the inland locations. This front will bring very little cloud cover and no rain. Surface ridging will keep things dry through Sunday. Highs will remain near 70, with lows in the 40’s through the weekend. Skies will be mostly clear.

Tropical Storm Lorenzo

Tropical Storm Lorenzo is in the open waters of the central Atlantic, and is getting weaker. This system will not impact land areas.
