Showers, Then Much Cooler !November 6th, 2013 at 3:47 pm by Jason Smith under FOX10 Stormtracker Weather
Cloudy at Times
Clouds continue to track across our skies, as a surface front tracks through Mississippi. Temperatures will are slightly warmer, with upper 70’s for daytime highs. No significant rain is expected through the early evening.
Light Rain Tonight
The computer models indicate a slight increase in moisture. We are expecting about a quarter of an inch of rain tonight, with the highest totals over our Mississippi counties of Greene, George, and Jackson. The showers should weaken as they approach the panhandle, dropping only a tenth of an inch in most areas.
A weak surface front crosses the area early on Thursday morning. Rain chances are at 40% tonight, and 20% through noon Thursday. Temperatures will be cooler behind the front. We will only see a high near 70 about noon, then temperatures will fall into the 60’s by late afternoon. Strong northerly winds will develop throughout the day. We expect lows near 40 for Thursday night.
Thanks to a zonal pattern in the jet stream, the next several fronts that will track through the area will be very weak. We expect near normal temperatures (highs in the mid 70’s, lows near 50) into early next week. Significant rain is not expected.
