Colder Weather Almost HereJanuary 14th, 2014 at 3:59 pm by Jason Smith under FOX10 Stormtracker Weather
Mild Trend Ends
We saw the last of the decent afternoon temperatures in our forecast area on Tuesday. Mobile Regional was at 62 degrees this afternoon. It was nice to enjoy abundant sunshine and fairly light winds. Look for a chilly night tonight. Temperatures will drop off in the 40 degree range late, as a cold front moves through around 3 am. Winds will increase out of the n’west and it will begin to turn colder for a number of days. Wednesday’s high will be in the low 50’s.
The stage is set for a light freeze Wednesday night. Cold northerly winds will bring a much more winter like air mass into the region. The GFS model actually has Mobile as cold as 23 degrees by early Thursday morning. Most locations will be in the lower 20’s inland to the upper 20’s near the coast. Skies will be mostly clear.
Dry & Chilly
A second push of colder air arrives Friday morning. This boundary should bring another light to moderate freeze for Friday night. Models indicate readings in the middle 20’s along the I-10 corridor. We continue to see plenty of sunshine with highs in the 50’s each afternoon through Saturday. Several days with temps near 60’s and sunshine are ahead in the long range forecast, including Sunday. We could see a few spotty showers along a weak front by Tuesday.
