Roads Improving RapidlyJanuary 30th, 2014 at 3:38 pm by Jason Smith under FOX10 Stormtracker Weather
Temperatures have really improved through the day. We started things off with a hard freeze! We saw morning lows of 11 degrees in Evergreen and 16 degrees in Mobile. By afternoon, sunshine had the temperature heading in the right direction with afternoon readings in the 40’s. Most of the significant ice on the roadways has melted, though we still see a few patches in the shady areas and on bridges. Most of this should be gone by this evening, with the exception of the inland spots where some refreezing is possible tonight.
Tonight will be chilly, but not as cold as the last few nights. Due to clear skies, light winds, and some residual snow cover in the inland spots – We expect a massive difference in lows from the inland areas to the coast. Some areas like Evergreen could drop as low as 22, while Destin should be in the 42 degree range. That is a 20 degree difference ! Expect a light freeze north of I-10. Mobile should be right at 32 degrees. Most coastal spots closer to the beaches will be in the upper 30’s.
Warmer, with Fog & Rain Looming
Friday looks outstanding with partly cloudy skies and temperatures in the low 60’s. Nights will turn foggy on Friday and Saturday with the milder temperatures and a return flow of wind over the cold near shore waters. Temps stay very mild through the middle of next week. Our best rain chances are Sunday and Tuesday in the outlook.
