Quick Rain, Better WeekendFebruary 7th, 2014 at 3:58 pm by Jason Smith under FOX10 Stormtracker Weather
A fast moving upper level disturbance brings in a good chance of cold light rain later tonight. Most areas will only see about a tenth of an inch. Temperatures will be chilly, but we do not expect wintry precipitation with this system. Sleet may mix in for central Alabama, and flakes in north Alabama with no significant accumulation. The rain will exit rapidly late tonight. The showers are most likely between midnight and 4am.
The weekend forecast is looking much better. Temperatures moderate with highs back into the 60′s both days. Rain chances have been reduced to 20 % early Saturday only. Sunday looks dry and partly cloudy with a high near 66. We stay fairly mild into early next week, with Wednesday being our next good chance for rain.
A Quick Note
It was the coldest January in Mobile since 1978, per John Christy Alabama State Climatologist.
