Cold & Wet Fat Tuesday
Fat Tuesday was just plain cold, with showers developing as expected throughout the day. Morning Temperatures started out in the low 30’s. We were still holding at 35 degrees as of mid afternoon. The rain really picked up in Mobile around noon, having an impact on the crowd turnout for the day parades. Little winter precipitation was reported in the area, despite temperatures remaining so close to freezing. Areas like Hattiesburg, McComb and Natchez all reported freezing rain at times earlier in the day
More Showers this Evening
Light rain and cold temperatures will continue for this evenings final Mardi Gras Parade. The Order of Myths rolls at 6pm and the weather conditions look dreary. Temps should be in the mid-upper 30’s and the rain chance is 80%. Showers continue overnight tonight with lows above freezing.
Scattered Rain Lingers
Showers remain possible Ash Wednesday and into Thursday. The surface front remains stalled in the central Gulf. Waves of low pressure keep us in the chances for spotty light rain. Temps rebound by Friday and the weekend. We should be back in the low 70’s by Saturday and Sunday. Sunshine also returns to the area, though Sunday could bring a few scattered showers based on the long range forecast.
